Stockholm has a great selection of shopping, whether you are looking for the latest fashion, the IKEA experience or Scandinavian design. Compared to most cities Stockholm is rather expensive though, but there are good choices if you are on a budget too! I’ll list a few places that hopefully captures a wide selection of shopping, so something for everyone. Galleria is a Swedish word that could translate into shopping mall.

Gallerian
Hamngatan 37
https://www.gallerian.se/
Located in the very city center, Gallerian is a shopping mall with a wide selection of shops, from toys and gadgets to fashion and restaurants, the easily accessible location makes it a good choice for shopping.

NK
https://nk.se/stockholm/
Hamngatan 18-20
This is the “Harrods” of Stockholm, if you are familiar with the famous London department store. A classical shopping destination established 1902. If you are visiting Stockholm in December, then make sure to look at their famous display window installations. Spanning several floors, you can find everything from groceries, to cosmetics, jewelry, fashion and more.

Åhlens
Klarabergsgatan 50
https://www.ahlens.se/varuhus/stockholm-city
The large brick building in the city center is easy to spot, Åhlens City is together with NK the largest department store in Stockholm with a bit of everything. They have several department stores in Stockholm and around Sweden, but the City one is by far the largest.

MOOD Stockholm
Regeringsgatan 48 / Norrlandsgatan 13 (two entrances)
https://www.moodstockholm.se/
Focusing mostly on fashion the Mood shopping mall is a rather new addition, opened in 2012.

Biblioteksgatan
This is a street, known for having several high-end shops, may it be fashion or watches. On Biblioteksgatan and the surrounding streets you can find several international high-end brands.

Westfield Mall of Scandinavia
Stjärntorget 2
https://se.westfield.com/mallofscandinavia
The largest shopping mall in Scandinavia is located in an area just north of Stockholm City named “Arenastaden”, which also houses the Friends Arena and multiple large offices. It can easiest be accessed by commuter train (Pendeltåg), take the train from either Stockholm City or Odenplan stations to Solna Station (trains heading to Uppsala, Märsta or Upplands Väsby), it takes less than ten minutes from Stockholm City. In 2025 a new metro station will open in the area. Opened in 2015 this mall has about 175 shops and more than fourty restaurants.

IKEA Kungens Kurva
Modulvägen 1
https://www.ikea.com/se/sv/stores/stockholm-kungens-kurva/
This is the first IKEA store opened outside of the home town of Älmhult, the opening was in 1965 and it’s the largest IKEA store in the world. The original round building is said to be inspired by the Guggenheim museum in New  York. There is a free bus leaving from Vasagatan 38 (opposite of the Stockholm Central station) and it also stops by Hornstull, Fridhemsplan and Kungsholms on it’s way to IKEA Kungens Kurva. Please check the website for more information. You can also take various local buses to the store, see SL.se for more information.

Gustavbsbergs Porslinsfabrik
Odelbergs väg 1C
http://gustavsbergsporslinsfabrik.se/
There is not much left of this pottery industry, located east of Stockholm, but they do have a workshop and more so a store selling second quality pottery made by Gustavsberg, so here you can get the classical design for better prices. Bus 747 from Slussen to bus stop “Vattenhjulet” takes about 20 minutes.

Västerlånggatan
This is a long street going through the Old Town (Gamla Stan), with lot of shops. Some of them are very “touristy”, selling nick-nacks of low quality, so be a bit cautious. My personal favourite shop is the Science-fiction Bokhandeln, a bookstore selling science fiction and fantasy books, they also have a large selection of manga, collectibles, toys and figures (such as Warhammer).

SoFo
This area located on Södermalm has a name clearly inspired by SoHo on Manhattan, New York. In this case it means Söder om Folkungagatan (South of Folkungagatan) and has a large selection of secondhand stores and other individual stores and restaurants. It’s perfect if you prefer to shop in stores that are not part of the big chains.
