Stockholm is in general a safe city to visit but as in all cities there are of elements of crime.
As a visitor the greatest risk by far are pickpockets. They are most often international groups and work in a professional manner, the best protection is common sense, never leave your bags unattended, keep your wallet and phone in a secure way etc. Be cautious when you sit outdoors at a restaurant or café, as they often snatch phones from the tables or take your bag.
Robberies can happen, especially at night time and if you are drunk the risk increases. As in rest of Europe the threat of terror is there, there was an attack in central Stockholm in 2017 where a truck was driven into a crowd, while this risk is small it’s always good to keep your eyes open in crowded places.
While begging is not a safety concern it’s good to know that many of beggars are part of organized groups from mostly Romania and Bulgaria where some criminal gangs are funded with begging. While there are many opinions in this topic my recommendation is to not give any money to beggars. Rather give some money to charities if you want to help or buy Situation Stockholm which is a magazine sold by homeless.
